In the churches today there are numerous urgent needs and issues that must be addressed, every-thing in Church and ministry begins with prayer- or it should begin there! As your pastor, I am presenting to you a comprehensive vision and theology for prayer, as well as, a strategy that mobilizes our ministry into a lifestyle that is conducive to be an effective house of prayer.
1. Committed to the ministry of Prayer as a Pastor.
2. Teaching a method of prayer that every new convert can learn.
3. Training and empowering leaders to pray & develop Intercessors for targeted prayer.
4. Mobilizing the church as a whole to pray.
5. Birthing new ministries in prayer & receiving Holy Spirit guidance through prayer.
6. Praying apostolic prayers to cover all your ministries and impact spiritual and governmental leaders around the world.
7. Scheduling specific prayer times to seek the Lord and incorporating time of fasting unto the Lord.
Matthew 21:13-14 (NKJV) 7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” –
Isaiah 56:7 (NKJV) 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ” 14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
Every dedicated follower of Jesus Christ practices a lifestyle of passionate prayer. They love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. They take up their cross and follow after Jesus. And on a daily basis with a solid foundation they find their secret place and commune with the Lord. They receive strength and grace and impartation from the Lord. They receive their daily directives and guidance from Him
Matthew 6:6 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
The prayer of agreement is a powerful form of praying! As the body of Christ it is biblical and a must that we come together in unity through the power of agreement with another believer. For married couples, this would be our spouse. For others it might be a small group, a friend, a roommate or a business associate. But if we want to see answers to prayers, we need to employ the power of agreement in prayer
Matthew 18:19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
The concept is simple. It is the gathering of the church members together for prayer with everybody lifting up their voices in agreement over issues that affect the entire church. Corporate prayer is mobilizing the entire church into spiritual agreement. The goal as your pastor along with ministers and administrative leadership is to lift our voices and heart in prayer and supplication. We are asking all members to come into agreement and verbally support the petitions and supplications that are being brought before our God.
Acts 4:24, 31 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth… And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Acts 12:5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
One area that is so vital in our church lives is the ministry of prayer and intercession. While all believers are called to pray, some give themselves more diligently and fervently to specific and strategic intercession. My prayer is that we will develop a team of intercessors that will be assigned to specific ministries and pray concerning relevant issues in the church, the city, the Nation, and even the nations of the world.
Ephesians 6:18-19 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints– and for me, that 2 utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel
Luke 2:37 This woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fasting and prayers night and day
Ezekiel 22:30 “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.
Jeremiah 27:18 But if they are prophets, and if the word of the LORD is with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts,
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
Most things in our lives and ministries get down to when we can do them and fit them into our busy schedules. Here are some of the insights from the Scriptures regarding prayer times:
3:00am – 6:00pm – 9:00pm -12:00pm
The Hour of prayer, the ninth hour (3:00)- Acts 3:1
The sixth hour (12:00, Noon)- Acts 10:9
At midnight- Acts 16:29 Night and day- 1 Thessalonians 3:10
Evening and morning and at Noon- Psalm 55:17 Many believers start their day with prayer. If that hour of prayer is taken up with personal daily prayer (for our own needs, family, finances, etc.), then it would be important to schedule another time for apostolic prayer.
